Women’s Leadership in GR and Advocacy
Washington D.C. – A panel discussion on “Women’s Leadership in GR and Advocacy” was held during the IGAPA GR Forum 2023 on March 6, bringing together some of the most prominent female leaders in government relations and advocacy to discuss the challenges and opportunities for women in these fields.
The speakers were Kateryna Odarchenko, a political strategist, CEO and founder of SIC group, Board Member of IGAPA, Sherry Abedi, a General Manager for Viceroy Hotels & Resorts, Dr. Sofey Saidi, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the National Council of Residence of Iran.

The panel discussed the biased narratives against women and their impact on leadership, highlighting the various barriers that hold women back in terms of their rights, influence, and power. Panelists shared their own experiences of facing gender-based discrimination in their careers and the importance of addressing these issues to achieve gender equality.
The discussion also focused on ways to accelerate progress toward gender equality on the international level, emphasizing the need for greater representation of women in decision-making roles. Panelists highlighted the importance of advocating for policies and practices that promote gender equality, such as pay equity and family-friendly workplace policies.
Moreover, the panelists also shared examples of successful leading women as a tool to reduce false statements towards women’s leadership. They stressed the importance of increasing visibility and support for women in leadership positions to challenge existing biases and stereotypes.
